We are here to help you become your best self. Many of us let our busy lives take focus off of caring for ourselves. How you look reflects on how you are perceived by others. It’s easy to get disconnected between the way someone wishes to be perceived by others and how he/she actually looks. Here’s a list of common reasons that this can happen:
-entering college
- starting a new job/career
-marriage or divorce
-having children
Especially for moms, priorities shift and you have less and less time to spend on yourselves. If you find that you are in a fashion rut, you owe it to yourself to make time, and make a change!
The first step to this is to build a foundation in your wardrobe of staple items. Refer to our previous posting showcasing a list of basic pieces every woman should own. We understand that you may not be able to afford to buy all of these pieces that you don’t currently own, so just keep the list around and cross of each item and you can afford to buy these quality, must-have items. After you have built your foundation, or “ice cream” pieces, you can add on accessories, or trendy, stylish pieces, aka “sprinkles” that express your defined style. Too much of either can still lead to frustration when looking into your closet each day. You either feel dowdy and boring (too much “ice cream”), or nothing matches to make an outfit and feel un-put together (too much “sprinkles”). So make sure you find a balance of both in order to have the perfect wardrobe!
A final thought from the brilliant Coco Chanel: “When there is an incompatibility between style and a certain state of mind, it is never style that triumphs.”
